Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 Course

Our Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 Course is a regulated one-day qualification designed to give individuals the skills and confidence to respond effectively to medical emergencies in the workplace.

Whether you work in security, events, construction, retail, or any other frontline environment, having a trained first aider on site is not just good practice — it is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Our EFAW Level 3 course meets HSE guidelines and provides everything a nominated workplace first aider needs to act quickly and correctly when it matters most.

Delivered by an experienced instructor at our training centre in North Wales, the course combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on scenarios to ensure every delegate leaves with genuine, applicable skills.

What You Will Learn on the Emergency First Aid at Work Course

Over the course of the day, delegates will cover:

  • The role and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider in the workplace

  • How to assess an incident scene and ensure personal safety

Your EFAW Qualification

On successfully completing the course, delegates will receive a nationally recognised Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work. This qualification is regulated by Ofqual and is accepted by employers, insurers, and HSE-compliant organisations across all sectors.

The certificate is valid for three years. A refresher course is recommended before expiry to maintain compliance and keep skills current.

Is Emergency First Aid at Work a Legal Requirement?

Yes. Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, all UK employers are legally required to ensure adequate and appropriate first aid provision for their workforce. This includes appointing a sufficient number of trained first aiders based on a workplace risk assessment.

For many low-to-medium risk workplaces — such as offices, retail environments, and small businesses — an Emergency First Aider at Work (EFAW) is considered appropriate provision. For higher-risk environments, a full First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification may be required. Our training team can advise on which qualification is right for your organisation.
